Mint.com

Mint.com is a very cool site that I discovered thanks to a personal finance forum (if you sign up tell the Secret Stash referred you.) It is basically a personal finance software that is free. You have to upload all your accounts into this system and them it tells you exactly where your money is going. It was cool to see it...I never realized that I'm spending about $125 on EzPass a month. The site also helps you find lower interest rates on different credit cards to help you save money. I'm especially a fan of the big pie chart that shows where all your money is going. It is going to be instrumental in opening up my eyes and helping me find ways to cut back on spending. They even have a blog Mint.edu with lots of information if your new to the whole world of finance (that would be me!) It's worth taking a look at.

wow, thats nice. my concern is, if you have all your finances online, what about the security issues. i know most of these services agree not to disclose any of the user information to 3rd parties, but i'm skeptical about having my financial details online. any pointers?

I would say research research research. Even still, there is another financial site Geezeo...with that one you can manually put in the dollar amounts and then no one ever has your account info. The only thing with that is that you have to update it yourself.

ahs, i think this is just the beginning. security is one thing and the internet memory is another. its quite surprising as to what kind of information leaks out into the internet. i wrote a blog post about it :

internet does seem to be a two headed dragon. isn't it?
